As the month of Ramadan begins, we recognise that the Minoritised Life Scientists Future Forum (MLSFF) may coincide with Eid al-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, worship, charity and community. During this month, observant Muslims abstain from all forms of food and drink between the hours of dawn and sunset, as a way to cultivate self-discipline, spiritual growth, and a deeper sense of empathy for those less fortunate.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and several other Gulf countries sighted the crescent moon on 28 February and declared 1 March as the first day of Ramadan. This means Eid al-Fitr is likely to fall on either Sunday 30 March or Monday 31 March (subject to sighting of the moon).

The three-day Minoritised Life Scientists Future Forum event will be held at the ICC in Birmingham, between 31 March - 2 April, and will offer over 200 hours of inspiring events and a wide range of networking opportunities.

To accommodate delegates who will be celebrating Eid, the Future Forum has announced that it will be providing prayer rooms at the venue, which will be clearly signposted. We will also be commemorating Eid at the start of the conference. In addition to festive Eid treats, the Future Forum will also be offering halal meal options to cater to the dietary requirements of Muslim delegates.

We want every delegate to feel supported and included at the MLSFF. If you have any specific accessibility or religious observance needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

To all those observing Ramadan, we wish you a blessed month filled with peace, reflection, and joy. Ramadan Mubarak!
